About LOMBC
Our Mission
The Lake Ontario Marina Boaters’ Community seeks to enhance the boating experience through inclusive social engagement, education, and connection. By creating opportunities for boaters to come together, share knowledge, and support one another, LOMBC aims to make marina life more enriching and accessible for all.
Our Vision
A connected, welcoming Lake Ontario boating community grounded in safety, shared experiences, and mutual respect.
Our Founders
LOMBC was conceived by Ethan Cohen (son) and founded by he and David Cohen (father) who share a passion for life on the water and the joy boating brings to them.
Ethan has been a boater since he was 4 years old. His earliest memories are boating on Lake Ontario with his family and the people and places he was fortunate to meet and visit. He comes by it honestly; his father, David was “born on the water” spending his childhood boating around the North East Coast of Newfoundland.
David and Ethan have boated out of Toronto Harbour since 2001 and have seen most of Lake Ontario, a fair bit of Georgian Bay, half the Rideau Canal, the Oswego Canal, the Finger Lakes, the Thousand Islands and even sailed from Halifax to Toronto through the Gulf of St. Lawrence and up the St. Lawrence River to their home port.
The water has given then some of their best moments in life and they want to share other’s experiences and their own through the LOMBC. They can’t wait to meet you all!
Our Goals
We’re here to build more than a community—we’re building a movement. Our initial objectives include:
- Creating a welcoming and active social network
- Encouraging the exchange of experiences, tips, and technical knowledge among boat owners
- Hosting educational workshops and training sessions focused on boating safety, navigation, and maintenance
- Planning inclusive social events that strengthen bonds between marina neighbours.
- Promoting volunteerism and stewardship to support marina health and environmental sustainability.
- Fostering pride, respect, and camaraderie in our shared boating lifestyle.
